Many years ago there was a certain man with the desire to treasure photographs of his family and in this way build and capture their history, so that their future generations would never forget their roots. It was as the first photo album arose. Then it was commercialized and people realized that they could treasure stories of all kinds: wars, landscapes, events or constructions of works, typical characters of a place...
An entire story or memory, happy or not, stored between the two covers of a book: a photo album. At our fingertips, having the opportunity to open it and with our eyes to see each of those moments and immediately our human memory takes us to that time: sensations and emotions vibrate in our senses. Most of the time we want to go back there. Where we feel that we were happy. Other times, they remind us why we left. We smile again at the victories achieved. We laugh when we realize that the passing of the years favored us or to see the evolution you had in your haircut, in your weight and even in your style of dress. Nostalgia invades us, because we had people we loved and now they are gone — how many times do we hug someone without knowing that it would be the last time? because we always believe that there will be more... and today, it was all in one image.
All this is generated by old photos, but the responsible behind this is our human memory. Without the need for a physical photograph, your memory, can recover images and scenes from the past, preserve your experiences and emotions, and elaborate your personal story.
There is a part called "eidetic memory" or photographic memory, which has an ability to remember images with very precise levels of detail. It occurs mostly in children, but in adults it is very rare or non-existent. It is curious, because the memories that affect us the most —for better or for worse— occur in childhood. It is not so easy to overcome or forget something that you remember so precisely.
It can be beneficial for happy moments, but what about traumatic and painful ones? —And this is only a part of everything that is our human memory, so fascinating and complex.
There are those who continue to live in their past glories or in their past failures, and in both cases they have one thing in common: the past. So how do we enjoy the abundant life that God offers us when we are living through the old photos of our memory?

I am sure that when Jesus said these words in John 10:10 b: "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly", it was in order to make us understand that every day there is an abundance of moments and abundance of reasons that He offers us to continue. That for all that was stolen, what died or was destroyed in us, are pieces that He transforms into His hands for abundant life.
Perhaps the memory books in your memory are full of old photos that constantly tell you about the past, in them a path is traced, so you have limited yourself to living according to that... but the most important thing is the destiny, and our destiny is one that will not end. It is life so abundant that its measure of time is eternity.
I love to cling to one of the most beautiful promises that God makes to us: "I make all things new" and yes, that includes your memories. That the old photos are only a reference of each one of the events captured there, as the way that serves to remember where our good Father has gone to look for us, but that everything new that He does is one more reason to enjoy His abundant life.
¡Te abrazo!
