Silence.

That moment when you walk into an elevator and you meet someone you do not know; you are just you and that person, we probably greet each other out of cordiality, but the next few minutes are the most uncomfortable because of the silence that surrounds us inside that elevator.
For some reason, we grow up with the perception that the ''silences'' are not pleasant. We spend our lives looking for sounds that give us peace —the idea of being in a cabin in a forest surrounded by the sound of the wind blowing in the trees or the song of the birds or the fire of a bonfire while you cook marshmallows, becomes allusive; and not to mention the idea of lying in a hammock under the shade of a pair of palm trees on the shore of a beach in the Bahamas, listening to the sound of the sea— but we are rarely looking for «silences».
God is also silence. There are moments that He is silent because He is working on something, but there are moments that He simply keeps silent for love: "The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. -Zephaniah 3:17, NASB''
How is it that for God, to keep silence, is also that he loves us? Maybe you have entered the same elevator where He is going, and you have tried to avoid the uncomfortable silence, looking for a conversation. You insist and insist on your prayers to Him. And all you have obtained is total silence —let me tell you: that is also a response from God. But then, how do I understand his love through that silence? Well, you will understand when He breaks the silence in your life. I know, it seems like a mess. Let me explain you with an example.

The bible is divided into the Old Testament (O.T) and the New Testament (N.T). This means that two periods occurred in the life of humanity. In O.T, God used to choose a man who would be the person for whom He would send the message and he should share the message with the rest of the people. It was the way to communicate with humanity. God always responded. But it happens that at the end of this period, God gave a final message in the book of Malachi 4: 5-6 (a promise). Approximately 400 years passed where God kept silence.
Humanity entered the new period (N.T), and God breaks the silence. Send an angel to visit the priest Zacharias, to give him the message that he was going to have a son; a son whom he would call John, who was nothing more and nothing less than the fulfillment of the promise He gave in Malachi 4. But there was something more beautiful than a promise fulfilled, this child came with a mission: to prepare the way of the Savior of the world: Jesus. (Luke 1: 76-77)
It's not beautiful? God kept silence, but when he broke it, He did it because his most evident act of love was happening:
the time of Jesus the Savior came. It was worth it that Him keep silent for 400 years!
I don't know how long God has been silent with you, but He has done it because of love. When He breaks the silence, not you, nor anyone but Him, that love will be evident in your life. And you will understand why He kept silence and why the process. You must trust that something very good comes after His silence.
I bless you and hug you!
