When patience is the best option.

Last week I mentioned that water is a necessity, not an option. Well, when we talk about patience, you can choose between being patient or being impatient.

• Most of the time, we choose to be impatient. That is a problem, if we take into account that we have a God who works at a perfect time.

Impatience is nothing more than the lack of knowing how to wait. This leads us to anticipate, find alternatives or shortcuts to somehow get what we want so much and does not end up in our lives. Exactly that, what we want so much for ''NOW!''.

Just this week, I was talking to a friend and he said ''Lili —he usually calls me like that— maybe I shouldn't be praying about this anymore''. How many haven't we ever said that! It is easier to be patient when you are waiting for something and it happens in a few hours or a day; but what about weeks? Months? years? and still nothing happens. Could it be that we think of a plan b, a shortcut or a desist? In our finite mind crossed the idea, of giving a "little help" to God or of not insisting on that again.

I want to tell you the same thing that I said to him: «and what if this is the day! What if this is the prayer! Do not get tired!". That's what faith is about: persisting. The remedy against impatience is faith. Among the many synonyms, I love these three: confidence, security and hope. God makes us an invitation, that in the midst of our "waits that despair", we have faith: let us trust Him, let us have security in Him and let our hope be Him.

''Psalm 33:20-22, We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you''.

—Patience is your best option, because although something is taking a long time to arrive at your life you can have that full faith, that if you are waiting in the presence of God: He will do it. (Psalm 37: 5)
