Scars of war!

I have a scar on my left hand. I was 9 years old when I was attacked by a Doberman. I remember the image of the dog, very angry and its big fangs near my face, ready to bite me and probably kill me. I struggled with him, so much so that his teeth were pressed into my hand, which gave my cousin time to take him away from me. That traumatized me. For many years I couldn't even see a puppy. Today I have a scar that will always remind me of it.

Who doesn't have a war that you faced from which you got a scar? And I don't want you to just think about the natural or physical, but everything you have faced in your life ―they have marked you, maybe they have stalled you or continue to suppurate pain to the point of not allowing you to live a full life. Today I want you to see another perspective and Jesus will be our example.

Jesus lived from everything! but I want to concentrate on the cross. In Matthew 27: 32-56, Luke 23: 26-49 and John 19: 17-30, you find the whole "final" process of his death ―crucified on the cross. So that He could hold on to that cross, they nailed His hands and His feet; let's not forget all the other marks on His body by the blows, whips and the crown of thorns. But it was His war, nobody else could fight for it.

He died, was buried and on the third day he was resurrected ―just as he had said (Mt. 16:21, Mark 8:31, Luke 9:22). And he appears to his disciples ―to his friends and brothers― and I love this, because after greeting them He did this: ''Having said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Upon seeing the Lord, the disciples rejoiced. Jn. 20:20''. We always believe that only the "disbelief" of Thomas needed to "see to believe" but the reality is that everyone saw His scars and so they recognized Him.

Nobody ever that had been dead for days, had risen alive from the dead. Jesus must demonstrate this miracle. And it would not have been possible to do so ―if on presenting himself to his disciples― He wouldn't have had scars from wounds that healed. They would have said it was a ghost or something unreal. But his scars on his hands, feet and side were evidence. The scars are evidence of wars fought. Jesus was not ashamed of them ―even though for others they were a sign of defeat― He used them to show God's power. And thanks to that ―his disciples and today we learn from them.

I'm not ashamed of my scars. They remind me of the wars I have won with God and the wars that have served as a lesson to my life. Today I use them to show the power of God and to let others know that with Him, we can continue, we can heal, we can start new chapters and we can live fully. Change your perspective!

I bless you and I hug you!
