Don't stay on the seashore!

Last weekend were swimming days, lots of sun and a couple of friends. Let me tell you that ''swimming'' is not my most outstanding skill. But unlike about 5 years ago, I would have never even been encouraged to enter the pool with my friends as I did these days. As a teenager, I had an experience where I almost drowned and after that I became the girl who always stayed on the shore. And we don't talk about deep waters! I couldn't even imagine them. Living bad moments, produce fear in us to try again. But God uses even our bad experiences to teach us something new. Here is what He taught me:

Could you visualize yourself in front of the sea? Without a doubt, it is beautiful. The sound of waves and birds are a lullaby of peace to your senses. Our life is like that beautiful sea, it is right in front of our eyes. And some of us are watching it from the shore. Maybe because the life we have in front of us hasn't been "as beautiful" as we expected. From losses after losses. In some moments in calm and in almost many other moments in storms. Others have the security of knowing how to "swim", but even so, life is presented as a challenge in front of them. We need: trust. But, it isn't enough to trust in oneself.

I remember that the first time I met the sea, I was a little girl and I was as excited as I was scared. My dad used to visit me along with my sisters on vacation. It was an adventure. The point is that because it was the first time, he took the time to take my hand, and tell me: ''Everything will be fine. I will not let you sink. Trust me''. Somehow, listening to those words of my dad while he held me in his hands, caused me to place myself in all confidence in him. It wasn't so much because of my emotion or the belief that I could do it alone, but because of him, that I encouraged me to leave the shore. Even when he was deeper in the sea, I knew, that I would be as sure as if I were on the shore of that sea. For the simple reason, that he was with me.

It happens the same in life. God constantly comes to you, extending His hand, because He wants to get you out of that shore (your comfort, sin, conformity, insecurities, doubts, etc.), where you are only spectator, where from a distance you see the purpose for which you are in this land and you're missing out on living it and reaching it. He just like a father who wants to teach you how to swim, what he requires from you, is that you take his hand, because he promises to do it with you, ''Isaiah 43:2a, When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you...''. In other words, it only asks you to "trust in Him" even when you get scared; ''Psalms 56:3, When I am afraid, I put my trust in you''. Understand this: you are not designed to stay on the shore, with God we always go deeper.

When we see the story of Peter walking on water (Matthew 14: 22-33) - oh yes! He walked on the water! Amazing do not you think? - and he "begins" to sink, v.30; What Jesus was claiming was "Why did you doubt?", that is lack of faith, which results in a lack of confidence in those who said "COME!". If with a little confidence that Peter had when he heard Jesus calling him to the waters, he managed to walk on them for a moment, Can you imagine how much more wouldn't have happened if he hadn't doubted?. But this is what happens, Jesus allowed Peter to fall into the water, but he didn't let him drown. And sometimes we need a "little taste" of what would happen in our lives, without the help and without putting our trust in Him. The good news is that you can trust Jesus, even when there are moments in your life where you doubt, Do not stay on the shore! Do not stay in the boat! because you can be sure that He will not let you drown!

I bless you and hug you!
