Wounded, we hurt.

A couple of days ago I read the book of Ecclesiastes (TAL), and in chapter 3 you find a list of all the things that you can do in life and as for every thing there is a time. But the verse that captivated me was the 3a, ''TAL: Today we wound, tomorrow we heal;'' Then I wondered, what if the injured person is not cured? How can that person heal another injured person if he/she is still injured, sick or hurt?. It made me remember once in my teens that I was very sick because of a virus, it had very high temperatures in my body mostly internally which meant I was reacting to an infection. I was taking medication but even my body was not healthy; I decided I was going to go to a meeting because I thought I felt better than the day before. When I was putting on my jeans (the girls with thick legs will understand the intensity of the moment) when pulling hard, the zipper made two scratches on my left leg. It hurt but I didn't think that would be a problem. I finished preparing and went to the meeting. It had been an hour and I felt that the pain in my leg intensified, because I decided to go to the bathroom to check it. To my surprise, the two scratches were no longer small as I saw them leaving the house, my leg was red and completely infected. I went to the doctor, and he told me this: when there are wounds, infections or illness in a body, any other wound, scratch or anything else that is nearby, it runs all the risks of also becoming infected. To this day I have the scars of those scratches that always remind me of that lesson lived.

The same applies to the wounded soul. You will not be able to go through life, trying to help others, to heal and restore others, if there are wounds within you that are still infected with hatred, resentment, bitterness or deep sadness. I put it this way: wounded people, hurt others. ''Hebrews 12:15, NVT: Beware one another, so that none of you will stop receiving the grace of God. Be careful not to sprout any poisonous root of bitterness, which upsets you and poisons many.'' Realize that these wounds on the soul are poisonous roots and when we don't let God cut off those roots, and we decide to live with them, we poison everyone around us. You think everything's fine, but like me with the scratches, you don't realize you're hurting and infecting those around you.

God's desire is to heal the wounds that suppurate inside you, ''Psalm 147:3, NVT: He heals the broken-hearted and bandages the wounds.'' because he wants to use you to heal others. The time of weeping, of feeling hurt and hurting others must end. The question is how willing are you to allow God to heal you?

I bless you and hug you!
